Premium-rate prefix

What is a 900 number?

Not toll-free. It's the opposite: dialing a 900 number bills the caller directly, typically a flat per-minute rate, for pay-per-call services. If something claims to be a normal 900 customer-service line, that billing model alone is a reason to double-check before you call. In service since the 1980s.

No numbers with the 900 prefix have any reports on file in FTC or FCC public complaint data yet.
